Our group scheduled two full day float trips on the Stillwater with Pierce and Jay in early August 2026. Caught fish on both topwater and submerged flies. Unforgettable experience and would definitely recommend their knowledge and expertise if looking for an outfitter in Southwest Montana.

We couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was perfect, the scenery was unreal, wildlife encounters at every bend (deer/ducks/geese/swans), and a great guide. Hope i csn come back in the spring. Thank you Pierce!!!

Matt worked very hard dragging the raft over shallows and boulders; navigating through rapids, and especially positioning the raft just right for easy casting to lots of trout-filled runs. I lost count of the browns and rainbows landed. Overall - a wonderful day on a great river with a great guide. Can’t wait to do it again. Many thanks to Pierce and Matt.

When I told him that five friends and I were planning a trip to Montana (grew to a group of eight), he said that a Missouri float would be the way to go. Pierce put together a team of himself and three other guides for three days of fishing. He and the team were outstanding. We did a different part of the river each day. We all caught plenty of fish. Already planning our next trip and will definitely use Wet Net. Great guys and great teachers!

Can’t say enough great things about our trip. Pierce knew every turn of the river, what bugs were out, what tactics to use, and where to find the fish. Let’s just say I’m going to need to rest my arm the next couple of days. Such a pleasure to fish with - knows all the Montana history, abided our mediocre casting and snags, fed us great food and made sure we had a great time all day. I highly recommend Pierce and Wet Net Outfitters for a great Montana fishing adventure.

Not only was his guiding superb, but the comradery was instant, and it all made for three of the best days fly fishing in my many years of drowning flies. His Water Master boat was totally confarculated with all appropriate gear, and his handling of the boat was great. He put me on some of the most berserk fighting fish I have ever caught. We told war stories, laughed, had great lunch breaks...all the cool stuff that makes for a great experience, and I cannot wait to do it again.

From the second we put in an inquiry, Pierce was kind, personable, and went above and beyond. He was always there for any silly question, area recommendation, and directions. The day of our trip meeting Pierce was like meeting an old friend. As kind as he could be, and you can tell he absolutely loves his job. He was very knowledgeable, and put us in every position to land a fish. You could tell it wasn’t about the money, he just simply wanted you to have a good time and give it your best shot. He was super patient, a fantastic teacher, and just an all around good guy. We can’t wait to come back to see him again and we will recommend him to absolutely anyone!

Greg JonesSeptember 16, 2023We had an amazing week with Wet Net Outfitters! We fished 2 sections of the Yellowstone, private water, the Upper Madison, and the Stillwater river. Each river was unique and special. Pierce did an amazing job curating a fly fishing trip that exactly met our desires. We fished with Pierce and one of his guides Doug McKnight (well known for designing the “Home Invador” streamer). Both guides were amazing and it was like having 5 days of private fly fishing instruction. Our skills were dramatically better by the end of the trip. I had four huge fish in one hour that were some of the most memorable in my life - all on dries and sight fished with amazing eats! Both guides would get as excited as we did when we landed a special fish. We give Wet Net Outfitters the highest recommendation and will definitely be back soon!!!

Diane SharpeMay 14, 2023It's nearly impossible to believe that this year fishing with Wet Net Outfitters could surpass last year. And yet, thanks to Pierce, that's exactly what happened. With just the right balance of help and patience, Diane and I had very enjoyable and super productive days at DePuy's Spring Creek, two days floating the Madison River and another two days on the Missouri. The rain, snow, sleet, winds and steadily dropping temperatures on DePuy were barely noticeable as I landed more fish than my previous four trips to the Spring Creeks combined thanks to Pierce's knowledge of the water, what to use, and how to fish it. The weather improved greatly for drifting the Madison and Missouri, but the fishing stayed great. In addition to being a superb fishing guide, it was one stop shopping as Pierce made the arrangements for all accommodations - which were also just perfect. We'll be back next year and challenge Pierce to top this year!!!!

The guides he had with him were just as talented as him as well as being very cool and likeable people. Over the course of 3 days we caught about 250 fish between 6 guys. If you are on the fence about an outfitter to go with GO WITH WET NET OUTFITTERS.

Great teacher, answered many questions I had …and unbelievable experience. We caught many fish and had a great time doing it!

Tom SMay 18, 2022I've been fly fishing in Montana for 25 years on average 2-3 times per year. Had a last minute trip to Billings so tried to get in a float trip and ended up with fishing with Pierce. Could not have been happier! Pierce is incredibly knowledgeable and seems to get as exited my son and I when we caught fish. Fished a river that I've never been on and had a blast. Never seen another boat until we were getting out after a full day on the river, I didn't think that was possible in Montana anymore! Pierce knew the river REALLY well, if we went over a hole he knew about and didn't pull a trout he'd row us back upstream to try again and I'd say 9 out of 10 times we'd pull a fish! My son and I both agreed it was the best float trip we've ever been on! Could not recommend Pierce enough, he'll be my first call when I'm heading to Montana!!

We fished the Yellowstone on a crazy windy day; despite this challenging condition and my first time fly fishing, I was able to land fish. I have been with a number of guides in the past. To me, an indicator of a quality guide is how often gear is changed and/or strategies modified. Pierce did this continuously throughout the day. In addition, he is just an all around good guy. "Fer dang shure," (as Pierce would say) I recommend going out with Pierce.

Edward KostAugust 3, 2021I have been fly-fishing for over 30 years mostly, warm water and saltwater. I currently live in San Antonio, Texas, and usually fly-fish at the coast with a guide for Red Fish. I come out to Montana 2 to 3 times per year. I have been fishing with Pierce for over 10 years. He is my favorite fishing guide! We have fished the Bighorn, Yellowstone, Missouri, DePuy, and a bunch of others. We have floated, waded, camped, hiked; you name it. We have nymphed, fished dry flies, and fished streamers. Pierce always has the perfect set up for his clients: fly rod, fly line, flies, and weight. He even has his own custom strike indicator (the balloon). I have caught both numbers of fish and big fish with Pierce. When he nets a 20+ inch brown trout, I don’t know who is happier me or Pierce. It is a blast! I always wanted to be fisheries biologist. Pierce has a degree in biochemistry and can get downright detailed and technical about trout and their behavior. His knowledge adds a whole level of fun to the fishing experience. I was having a tough time catching fish on the DePuy spring creek. When I finally landed a fish, Pierce gently removed some stomach contents using a suction device. Pierce examined the “bugs” and select a tiny midge pattern. The trout was released unharmed, but maybe a little hungry. I subsequently caught a nice fish on almost every cast. It was awesome. Pierce is lighthearted and we always have a great time. I have recommended my friends to Pierce and they also have had a great time. I can’t wait for my next Montana fishing adventure with Pierce.

He is incredibly diverse as a guide, and can do it all. His passion for fly fishing becomes apparent from the first time you meet him. Recently he further proved his experience and prowess by taking my teenaged niece (a first time fisherwomen) down the Stillwater. He taught her how to cast, mend and fight fish before we started fishing, he even helped me with my cast! She was instantly hooked up and her rod stayed bent all day. I would recommend Wet Net Outfitters to anyone traveling to Montana and looking for the experience of a life time!
Mike GordonJuly 23, 2021Just an amazing three days of fishing with the "juicer". Went to Dubuys spring creek and landed 20-30 with streamers, traditional nymphs and Euro nymphing. Most between 16-20. Then did 2 days of float on the Missouri near Craig. Same story except one day it must have been near 35 trout. Pierce even brought a small heater for when it got cold. Pierce always has the right fly's and he can adapt to any circumstance. He also does everything he can to make the day a blast. In one run my friend and I must have gotten nearly 20 fish. He rowed back up against the current over and over again because the fishing was so good. I do not know many guides who would do that. He also always makes the trip fun and he always gives just the right amount of teaching. He never get frustrated when my friend tangles with me. Never my fault! Pierce is a great individual and by far my #1 choice in guides.
